Route 66
Here are some great photos taken during the 2006 trip on Route 66.  I have limited the photos to a Baker's Dozen (as I have done with other sections of this website).  You will be viewing the Best of the Best from that 2,400 mile stretch of highway from Chicago

to LA.

Abandon Antique store in Funk's Grove, Illinois

Chain of Rocks Bridge across the Mississippi River north of St. Louis.  Opened in 1929 as Route 66 from Illinois to Missouri.  It has a 22 degree angle in it.

The Ribbon Highway - only 9 feet wide.  An early alignment near the town of Miami, Oklahoma

Oklahoma City National Memorial to the 1995 bombing of the Murrah Federal Building - 168 lives lost

Abandon section of the road - but not totally forgotten.... I found it

Cadillac Ranch near Amarillo, Texas.  Weird, but neat.  Mom and son.

The famous neon lights in Tucumcari, New Mexico

Earliest alignment - gravel road over a mountain near Santa Fe, New Mexico

The famous "Wild Burros" walking around loose in the streets of Oatman, Arizona near the California border

Moonrise over the Mojave Desert near Barstow, California

Tee Pee motel in San Bernardino, California

The perfect flower at the end of a perfect Route 66 trip - Bird of Paradise at the park in Santa Monica at the end of THE ROAD
